A monastery, with castle high walls, on an island. That’s one way to say: we don’t like visitors. But then, this old landmark does like visitors. And when the tide is low, you can walk there. During high tides, the island is perfectly isolated – a retreat and a sanctuary for those who shelter within, who are then free to contemplate, and chant, and do all those monky things people do. Tide is low – we can cross into the real world and it can cross into us. Get supplies. Wow some tourists. Make some moolah. In this picture, you can see some fields and a town in the background. In heavy mist, the scene transports you hundreds of years back… with the island fortress rising from the fog… you might be on the set of Game of Thrones.
