It is true that the early bird catches the worm (then again, the SECOND mouse gets the cheese). Workers, labourers, service personnel, fishermen and certain recently settled writers, however, have no choice but to get to the graft early and often. That’s the trick to putting food on the table… and also the trick to production. Whatever’s important to get done, do it often and do it early. Around the early morning hours, I have my best shot at catching a muse. The sun coming up, the seagulls calling to each other, most folks still sound asleep – and me on a city bench with a warm cup of takeaway coffee and my laptop – this is the way to optimise the chances for a good catch, and to start the day.
