Old Walls, New Life
25 May 2022

You’d have no idea it was there, casually walking past it. But you’ve heard about it, so you step through an average looking doorway, discretely marked… and what reveals itself is an Elizabethan Garden. As in, a courtyard formal garden dating back all the way to Elizabeth the first. There is no big signs pointing to it, no big fanfare. It’s there, and those who know it’s there can enjoy it. Maintained – even things that are hundreds of years old can blossom and grow and fill the world with beauty and joy.

Stepping into these gardens, you can’t help but be transported back in time. The cobbled streets outside are the same, many of the walls are the same. A few window frames and fittings may be new… and the people around you would need to get into costume.

But other than that, you’re good to go. In fact, you’re already there… just slow things down a bit and listen to the birds.
