A micro-organism lives within a rock pool – and it is their entire universe. The tide comes in an covers the rock pool – bringing new things in, taking old things out – still, the organism stays within the bounds of its little universe, or gets swept away into an adventure of gargantuan proportions. We look at the size and scale of things around us – our little rock and the rocks around – and say, the universe is vast beyond comprehension.
But perhaps the universe is a but rock pool.
