Take The Stairs
2 February 2022

Yes it’s not motorised, like escalators – nor does it have buttons – like elevators. But it’s never stuck, it won’t ever trap you, it lets you go on your own terms, and you can take pride in getting where you’re going on your own power. Take the stairs, it’s the scenic route. Well, that’s one way to look at it. The other way is: why work harder when you don’t have to. I saw these intersecting angles and edges and was fascinated by it. Like a solemn Monument to the English virtue of queueing, I was a little amazed by the size of it. A lot of foot traffic is anticipated when you have five lanes. Take the stairs or avoid them – but they are also good for skateboarding, seating for lunch breaks, a cardio machine and a meditation device. 😉
