Wall Of Saints
12 April 2022
Like everyone else, I appreciate the beauty of this cathedral wall. And I’m suitably impressed, as the peasants of previous generations were. But what overwhelms all my other impressions is my curiosity. A wall like this is more than just intricate for its own sake. There must be a hundred million stories stored upon its surface. Each saint has their own, unique spot – decorated and imbued with symbolism. This kind of intense artistry requires some belief in the supernatural, perhaps. While the ethics and epistemology may be far more palatable over at the New Atheist Centre – their walls are simply wiped with a double coat of Dulux. How about we somehow get back to creating buildings that begin to talk to you before you’re even inside… I hope such fashions make their comeback, minus the zealotry, bigotry and tyranny.
